It is now possible to be reimbursed for the metro for your children in Paris.
Reimbursement of the Imagine R pass
As of the start of the 2020-2021 school year, all children and teenagers under the age of 18 will benefit from free public transport in Paris, via a full refund of their Imagine R pass (Imagine R Junior, School or Student pass).
Promise kept by A. Hidalgo
From September 2020, taking the metro, bus, streetcar or train in the Ile-de-France will be free for all young Parisians, as announced by Anne Hidalgo, mayor of Paris, on her Twitter account.
After implementing this measure for children in primary school, the Paris City Council has just extended the measure to all Parisians aged 11 to 18, who previously received only a partial refund.
350 € per child
This measure will allow parents to obtain full reimbursement of their children’s Navigo passes. This represents a saving of
- 24 € for Passe Navigo junior holders (in primary school and up to 11 years old),
- 27.60 for Vélib pass holders and
- 350 for secondary school students and young apprentices under the age of 18 with an Imagine R pass.
According to the city council’s estimates, the implementation of these free measures will cost the municipality €27.6 million per year.
How to get your money back
Buy (or renew) the pass on the Ile de France Mobilité website
First step: buy or renew your children’s Imagine R Junior, School or Student passes:
https://www.jegeremacartenavigo.iledefrance-mobilites.fr/espace_client/
Passes can be purchased from mid-July.
Get your money back on the Paris City Hall website
Ask for a refund on the Paris City Hall website:

You must then go to the section “Reimbursement Imagine R: Parisian children in primary school”. Bring your child’s Navigo Imagine R pass and a bank account number. You may be asked to provide proof of address.
The reimbursement by the Paris City Hall is open from the beginning of September (usually from the second week of September).
