What to pack in your vacation first aid kit.
Medication should be carried in its packaging and not in bulk.
Here is a model of a first-aid kit, taken from publications by the Institut national de veille sanitaire (Invs), which should be adapted to the destination of your vacation.
Remember to talk to your doctor and ask for a prescription.
Special vacation first aid kit
The Basic Medications
- an analgesic and antipyretic to lower fever (e.g. paracetamol)
- an antidiarrheal (ex Immodium + Smecta)
- an antiemetic if necessary against motion sickness (ex Gelsemium)
- an antiseptic, gel or solution, for hand hygiene
- a skin antiseptic to clean wounds (ex diaseptile)
- a mild local antiseptic with drying purposes (e.g., eosin unidose)
- pads, adhesive sutures (ex steri-strip), and sterile dressings
- an eye drop
Equipment
- a thermometer
- small scissors
- a pair of tweezers
En cas de départ avec un enfant
- des sachets de réhydratation (diaryl)
- du doliprane en sirop
Autres produits utiles pour le soleil
- une crème solaire avec un indice adapté à sa peau
- une crème contre les brûlures (ex biafine)
Pour le départs en zone infectée par le paludisme
- un répulsif contre les moustiques (ex 5 sur 5)
- un antipaludique à usage préventif adapté à la zone
- une crème pour calmer les démangeaisons
