Here are a some 100% free parental control apps. They don’t offer all possible functionalities as a premium app would, but you can combine them.

Free parental control apps

ESET Parental Control

ESET Parental Control has all the standard features you would expect in order to control time limit usage. This is one of the most complete services available. But it does not offer content filtering.

This free app offers:

  • Application Guard: Manage time and suitability of the applications
  • Time limits for apps
  • Daily budget for apps
  • App usage reports
  • Instant Block
  • Basic web usage report

ESET Parental Control’s free version does not include Web Guard Filtering, Safe Search, Child Locator, Geofencing, Full Activity Reports.

Supported OS: Android

Kaspersky Safe Kids

Kaspersky Safe Kids offers a free plan which provides access to web filtering, app filtering, time limits, and the option to enable safe search on top search engines and YouTube, on up to 500 devices. But it does not provide scheduling.

This free app offers:

  • Online content filter: Protect your kids from inappropriate websites and content
  • Safe search in YouTube: Block your kids’ YouTube search requests deemed harmful
  • Apps usage control: Manage app use by time used, age restrictions or category
  • Screen time management: Manage the amount of time your kids spend on their devices

Kaspersky Safe Kids’ free version doesn’t include scheduling (so you can’t set specific intervals when your kids can’t use their devices).

Supported OS: Windows, macOS, Android, iOS (be aware that some functionalities are not available on all OS)

Qustodio

Qustodio app contains an excellent web filtering (that not even top VPNs can bypass), screen time monitoring, time limits and scheduling, and activity reports. But restriction can not be setup at app level on the free version, and are limited to one device only.

This free app offers:

  • Screen time monitoring
  • Daily time limits
  • Restricted time periods
  • Smart web filtering and safe search
  • Daily and weekly email reports

Qustodio’s free version do not include games and apps restrictions.

Screentime

Screentime is pretty good to monitor phone, but is pretty poor in term of setting up restrictions.

This free app offers:

  • App Usage
  • Daily Reports
  • Web History (Android only)
  • Social Media monitoring (Android only)
  • See YouTube videos watched (Android only)
  • 1 Device per child

Screentime’s free version do not include time limit, instant pause, schedules.
