Inaugurated on October 14, 1966, the Montreal Metro was inspired by the Paris Metro, both in the architecture of its stations and in the rolling stock used. At its inauguration, the network included 26 stations, 22.1 km spread over three lines.
It serves the island of Montreal as well as the Quebec cities of Laval and Longueuil,
