Cryptomator is a German client-side encryption tool for your cloud files, open source and 100% free.

Transparent encryption

Transparent encryption means that you won’t notice any difference in working with your files.

While the storage space containing your encrypted data is somewhere in your cloud folder, Cryptomator provides a virtual hard drive through which you can access your files.

You can work on this drive as if it were a regular USB flash drive.

Individual encryption

Everything you place on the virtual hard drive is encrypted in your vault.

Compared to other disk encryption utilities like VeraCrypt for example, Cryptomator encrypts each file individually. So if you edit only a small text file, only the corresponding encrypted file is modified.

This way, your cloud storage provider’s sync client knows exactly what should be uploaded and what should not.
